Protecting Your Information
During the registration process, you will be required to provide us with personal information including your name, e-mail address and home phone number. Tuition Options will use this information to process your request to access your accounts via the web and to send you information via e-mail.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) requires that we disclose to our customers:
- The types of information that we collect.
- The categories of institutions and persons with whom this information is shared.
- Our practices regarding the sharing of information about former customers.
- How we share information within our company.
The information we collect about our customers is derived from the installment contract and credit application that is completed when a customer applies for or obtains tuition financing.
This information becomes part of your financing package and may be passed along if the installment contract is sold, or assigned for servicing and/or collection. Your payment history may be shared with the originator or subsequent holder of your installment contract as well as certain credit reporting agencies such as Experian, etc. Also, a court order or regulatory requirements may mandate that some or all of the information regarding your account be disclosed.
We obtain certain banking information about you when you pay by check from your bank account, authorize us to deduct payments from your bank account by electronic funds transfer, or pay us by credit card. Other than to process these transactions through our normal banking channels, your bank account numbers and credit card numbers are not provided to anyone who does not already have access to this information, i.e. your bank and credit card issuer.
Within our organization access to customer data is tightly restricted through utilization of computer passwords and user ID’s. Employees have access on a need-to-know basis as it relates to their employment responsibilities and our overall objective of efficient and productive operations. Original and photocopied documents are maintained in secure files. Access to these files is limited to those employees whose responsibilities dictate it.
Tuition Options understands and deeply values the position of trust in which it has been placed by educational service providers (our clients) and their students (our customers). Long before the enactment of GLBA we were proactive regarding the safeguarding of data in the face of rapidly advancing technological changes. In the future we will continue to be at the forefront in securing not only the privacy of our customers information but also their unqualified trust.
